Director of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies

Cornell University invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies . Reporting to the Vice Provost for International Affairs , the director will provide leadership and direction for an established international studies center and, more generally, for the support and integration of international studies into the intellectual life of the university. As both a land-grant institution and a privately endowed university, Cornell has a founding responsibility—unique within the Ivy League—to make contributions in all fields of knowledge in a manner that prioritizes public engagement to improve the quality of life in the state of New York, the nation, and the world.

The Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies was established in 1961 as the Cornell Center for International Studies. Its mission was to enhance Cornell's research and teaching about the world's regions, countries, cultures, and languages and to help prepare students and faculty to contribute in the international sphere. In 1990, it was named for its founding director, the political theorist Mario Einaudi.

Today, the center houses area studies and thematic programs ; organizes workshops, conferences, and public events ; provides grants, fellowships, and training to faculty and students ; offers minors and other courses of study; publishes papers, briefs, and books; and brings together scholars from many disciplines to address complex global issues. The resources and opportunities for innovative and interdisciplinary collaborations across the center and the university are extensive.
