The Director of Public Grants reports to the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Roxbury Community College (RCC). This position is responsible for the identification, development and submission of grant funding opportunities that support the mission of the College. The Director provides direct consultation and assistance to RCC administrators, faculty and staff to identify, develop and submit public grant proposals to federal, state, and local government. The Director oversees the public grant annual calendar, works directly with RCC administrators, faculty and staff to ensure accurate and timely post award progress/impact reports, tracks public grant award outcomes and progress against annual fundraising goals and provides information to senior leadership as required.
General Responsibilities:
- Identify public grant-based funding opportunities and provide timely information to key personnel regarding funding opportunities.
- Assess the capability to compete for external funding and make recommendations accordingly.
- Write, edit and submit proposals that include needs analysis, goals, objectives, activities, action plans, performance indicators, evaluation strategies, timelines, budget, and supporting data.
- Work closely with faculty and staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals.
- Organize teams and lead idea generation and proposal submission.
- Lead, monitor and ensure timely mandatory reporting processes for specific grants, including submission of periodic and final reports and renewal applications submitted to funding agencies.
- Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on aspects of grant seeking and proposal development.
- Participate actively in the statewide community college development directors network taking an active role as needed to represent RCC.
- Any other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the institution.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education preferred.
- Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide range of audiences.
- Demonstrated experience in public grant writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with funders.
- Ability to develop and maintain cross-functional, collaborative working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff and with academic, administrative, and other functional units on campus.
- Demonstrated experience with statistical software and reporting tools; familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT a plus.
- Ability to handle a diverse set of issues simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines. Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual environment.
- Commitment to the Roxbury Community College mission.
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $115,000- $125,000.00 annually based upon education and experience.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday, schedule to be determined upon hire.
This position will be eligible for a maximum of two days of telework in accordance with the College's Telework Policy .
