Director of Protocol and Advance
President's Office
Location:  New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Director of Protocol and Advance is a senior position within the President’s Office with primary responsibility for preparing and staffing the President of the University for internal and external engagements. The position guides all aspects of advance work for the President in collaboration with the Senior Manager for Planning to ensure the organization of events, briefing materials and presidential initiatives. The employee will also serve as a backup to the Senior Executive Writer and Project Lead for drafting communications, talking points and remarks to be delivered by the President to diverse constituencies. This is a position requiring strong exercise of professional judgment, autonomous work effort, with independent decision-making and evaluation/implementation of methods to achieve work-related goals, objectives and mission.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Highly proficient computer skills and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and resource management skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks independently and meet established deadlines.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of directly related experience.
OR
• High School Diploma/Equivalent and eight (8) years of directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• More than two (2) years of directly related experience in a higher education environment.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 27.
