Job Overview

The Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding (ACMCU) was founded within the Walsh School of Foreign Service in 1993 by an agreement between the Foundation pour L’Entente entre Chretiens et Musulmans, Geneva and Georgetown University to build stronger bridges of understanding between the Muslim world and the West, as well we between Islam and Christianity. 

Our mission is to improve relations between the Muslim world and the West and enhance understanding of Muslims in the West. Since its foundation, the Center has become an internationally recognized as a leader in the field of Muslim-Christian relations. The Center’s national and international goals are achieved through teaching, publications, media interviews, consulting, symposia, briefings, and international conferences.

Job Overview

The Director of Programs is responsible for the daily management and representation of the Center, including outreach and development, event management, and program and budget administration, as well as promotion of the Center’s extensive and varied activities with a consistent and effective message to the Georgetown University campus, the Washington D.C. community and beyond, domestically and internationally.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the ACMCU Director, the Director of Programs supervises all program operations and student employees.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.  Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree - preference for Master’s degree in Islamic, Middle East or Arab studies with emphasis on religious studies/pluralism
  • 4 to 5 years of closely related experience in program and budget management with supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of the Islamic world and familiarity with various Muslim cultures and traditions
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and the capacity to interact effectively with a diverse and international community - e.g. , students, faculty, staff, university administrators, academic counterparts, donors, and members of the media
