JOB SUMMARY: 

The Director of Health Outreach is a pivotal role dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of communities in the region through strategic outreach and robust partnerships with community health entities, including Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The Director will oversee the management and execution of non-research community-focused grants, chair the Community Advisory Board, and actively facilitate the integration of medical students and residents into community service initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

·       Community Partnership and Outreach: Develop and maintain strong relationships with regional health partners, community organizations, and FQHCs to enhance collaborative opportunities and health outreach programs.

·       Grant Management: Oversee the acquisition, implementation, and monitoring of community-focused grants from sources such as HRSA and various foundations. Ensure compliance with grant requirements and the achievement of grant objectives.

·       Community Advisory Board Management: Serve as the Chair of the Community Advisory Board, organizing and leading meetings to align the board's activities with the strategic goals of the School of Medicine.

·       Student and Resident Engagement: Facilitate and support the integration of medical students and residents into community service activities, ensuring these experiences contribute to their educational and professional development.

·       Metrics and Reporting: Develop and maintain a system for tracking and reporting on the metrics of success related to community outreach efforts. Provide periodic reports to the  Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

·       Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Doctoral degree preferred.

·       Ten (10) years of experience in community health, outreach, or public health program management.

·       Proven track record of successful grant management, including federal and foundation grants.

·       Strong leadership skills with experience in board management and strategic planning.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups including community leaders, healthcare providers, and academic personnel.

·       Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement strategic initiatives and partnerships in a healthcare or academic setting.

·       A combination of education and experience may be accepted.
