Director of Faculty Mentoring and Recognition

The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at the University of Virginia invites applications for the position of Director of Faculty Mentoring and Recognition. The incumbent will enhance faculty success at all levels by supporting faculty mentoring programs and positioning faculty to compete for high-level external awards. This position will report directly to the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs.   


In this position, the incumbent will collaborate with the twelve schools of the University on internal and external mentoring programs for faculty. They will provide training and support for both mentors and mentees to develop culturally competent, effective mentoring relationships across disciplines throughout UVA. They will advise junior faculty in the process of developing mentorship and sponsorship relationships with scholars outside of UVA.  


In addition, this individual will develop a comprehensive strategy to position UVA faculty for awards in every academic discipline. They will match faculty with prestigious external awards opportunities; provide workshops, training, and advising to faculty; and oversee the awards process from pipeline development to submission.  


Required qualifications:  


  • Bachelor’s Degree  

  • At least four years of related experience  


 


Preferred qualifications: 


  • Advanced Degree 

  • Five years of experience in Faculty Affairs at a Research University 

  • Experience developing and leading faculty mentoring programs 

  • Experience training faculty mentors in culturally competent mentoring 

  • Experience supporting faculty in submitting award applications 


 


This position is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. The anticipated hiring range is $110,000 to $120,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt level, full-time position with benefits.
