The primary role of this position is oversight of the Government Relations office at the federal and state level + representing the University before lawmakers and government entities in Washington D.C and in Tallahassee, all of whom rely on the College for timely, trustworthy and honest information.

This position provides an opportunity to lead on public policy issues important to the University and our students, develop verbal and written correspondence to internal and external audiences, develop relationships with various elected officials, staff, business and other trade associations, all while learning the intricacies of the University. The Director will educate on political and policy issues affecting the University and our students.

This position is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and requires the ability to travel. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Legislative Affairs
  • Monitoring legislative and regulatory actions at the state and federal level
  • Strategic legislative planning and implementation
  • Participate in fundraising in coalition building

The candidate must possess: 

  • Bachelor's degree or graduate degree in political science, communications or business administration, or other related experience
  • 3 years of lobbying experience with an organization, experience in a Legislative branch, or other government relations field including political fundraising; any appropriations experience or advocacy work is highly sought
