About the Opportunity

The Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications for the position of Director of Computing Programs beginning September 2024 or January 2025 at our campus in Seattle, WA.  Faculty rank for the position will be commensurate with experience. The college currently offers Master of Computer Science programs, hosts undergraduate mobility programs, supports faculty-led research, and is the founding campus for the Align program, which is a national initiative to close America’s tech diversity gap by offering an innovative pathway to our Master of Science in CS for non-computer-science majors. Future plans include increased undergraduate programming, an interdisciplinary Master’s program in Robotics, and expanded research activity.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate for the Director role will be able to combine demonstrated administrative experience, a commitment to increasing diversity in computer science, and, strong leadership skills, to create a strategic vision for growth of innovative and impactful programs in the region. The Director oversees the operational functions of Khoury programs on the campus, including faculty mentoring, budgeting, and collaboration with Graduate Student Services staff that provide academic advising, co-curricular programming, and career services support. The Director will be required to teach Master’s level courses and will have the opportunity to recruit full- and part-time faculty at the Seattle campus.  The Director will work closely with dean-level college leadership and directors of other regional campuses to ensure equitable delivery of high-quality programming in Seattle.  The director will interact with Seattle campus staff and administration as well as the faculty and staff of other colleges in support of regional programs and goals.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution by the appointment start date. Appointment rank will be commensurate with experience.

Teaching statement: Please summarize your past instructional and/or mentorship experiences, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching at Northeastern (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity statement: Please provide a statement of your contributions to diversity that describes your past experience, activities, and future plans to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging in your teaching, service, and impactful work outside the classroom. Some faculty candidates may not have substantial past activities. If that is the case, we recommend focusing on future plans in your statement.

The expected hiring range for Associate Teaching Professor is USD $141,100 to USD $172,400 based upon the position’s scope and responsibilities. The expected hiring range for (Full) Teaching Professor is USD $163,100 to USD $199,300 based upon the position’s scope and responsibilities.
