Job Description Summary:
The All of Us Research Program- Heartland Consortium (AoURP-HC) is a four-state collaborative effort between the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) and The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS), the University of Missouri (MU) and MU Health Care, the University of Iowa (UI) Health Care, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), along with the aforementioned affiliated clinics, and networks of community partners with locations in urban, suburban and rural communities across the four-state geographical region.
The AoURP-HC activities are part of the National Institutes of Health All of Us Research Program vision and goals to enroll a cohort of one million diverse participants to build an indispensable resource that accelerates precision medicine for all populations. The AoURP-HC aims to address health disparities by increasing the participation of racial/ethnic minorities and rural residents in the largest precision medicine initiative in history.
The Director of Communications for the All of Us Research Program- Heartland Consortium reports to the Executive Director of the AoURP-HC and is responsible for the leadership, management, and daily oversight of the communications for the Heartland Consortium. The director develops and implements a communications strategic plan and develops and disseminates messages and communications in alignment with the National Institute of Health (NIH) All of Us Research Program's public image and brand. They will coordinate with Consortium members for presentations, brochures, fact sheets, and other materials and coordinate with the Chief Communication Officers and all partners regarding communications across the four-state region.
Job Description:

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or other related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for bachelor's degree.

Work Experience:

  • 7 years experience in a communications role, with a track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies.

  • Excellent communication as evidenced by application materials

  • Experience with crafting clear, concise and engaging messages for different audiences and platforms.

  • Experience in leveraging digital and social media platforms for effective communication and engagement.

  • Experience with measuring and evaluating the impact of communication efforts.

  • Experience with a variety of communications vehicles, including print, visual, web-based and face-to-face communications, and how to use them effectively in disseminating information.

  • Experience with proofreading and editing.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office and digital communications technologies.

Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience

  • Experience in a higher-education, health care or medical setting.

  • Experience with health communications and/or recruiting for clinical trials.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the leadership, management, and daily oversight of the AoURP-HC and Kansas Site specific communications.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a communications strategic plan to promote the AOURP-HC objectives and goals.

  • Develop internal and external communications and liaise with university and health center teams to disseminate.

  • Develop and implement cutting-edge communications and marketing strategies in support of the All of Us Research Program’s goals and initiatives.

  • Liaise with the NIH All of Us Research Program Communications team and Wondros, a national creative agency which is the AoU’s communication design partner, to ensure all marketing and communications activities are compliant with the established co-branding materials and approved by NIH prior to distribution.

  • Coordinate with the Consortium’s University and HealthCare members and other partners and distribute program assets.

  • Annually assess Consortium communications and marketing efforts and provide NIH program officers metrics that demonstrate the performance of the tactics used to support All of Us programmatic goals.

  • Maintain the AoURP-HC compliant site-specific website and website monitoring metrics, as directed by the NIH All of Us Research Program.

  • Develop marketing-compliant targeted enrollment brochures and community outreach materials and identify locations of distribution and advertisement.

  • Ensure all IRB-approved assets are uploaded to the Program’s asset portal for broad sharing within the consortium and report on the number of new assets requested.

  • Adhere to the style guidelines and language conventions designed by Wondros for asset development.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
