Position Information
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for a Director of Auxiliary and Business Services. The Director of Auxiliary and Business Services (ABS) is responsible for providing operational and financial oversight; and leadership for the University’s auxiliary services enterprises. The position is full-time and exempt with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. 
 
The enterprises include dining services, campus bookstore, ID card services, event ticket sales, postal services, vending, and parking. The position requires that the person be a progressive advocate within the University’s Administration and Finance organization.           
Responsibilities
  • Work with Associate Vice President leadership and ABS staff to analyze financials and to prepare ABS statements and management reports for submission and review by UMES leadership. 
  • Work with ABS staff to ensure that all accounts are reconciled and that accounting entries are handled in accordance with policies.
  • Produce ad hoc financial or operational reports and analysis of data as needed. 
  • Provide leadership and planning guidance for all staff. 
  • Develop operational and strategic plans and objectives for each service unit, and demonstrate effective team building and professional development, particularly as these objectives influence student academic performance.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all aspects of contracts with external vendors for the bookstore, dining services, vending, etc. 
  • Communicate Auxiliary and Business Service programs and initiatives to the broader University community. 
  • Review and develop business procedures and financial reporting processes in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and best practices.
  • Lead responses associated with audits by providing information as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business,or a related field. 
  • Five years of experience in Accounting, Finance or related field.
