The Office of Development and Engagement at the Kelley School of Business is searching for a dynamic and driven alumni professional to join our team. The Director of Alumni Engagement plays an integral role in the philanthropic efforts for the school.

The office is a fully functional development and alumni operation that includes several major gift staff members, corporate and foundation relations team, annual fund team, stewardship representative, alumni engagement team, parent engagement and supporting administrative staff.

The goal of this position is to lead Kelley's volunteer management program and develop best practices for Kelley's alumni network encompassing more than 130,000 around the world.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops alumni engagement strategies for volunteers and contributors to the Kelley Alumni Leadership Network.  
  • Leads efforts to build relationships with existing alumni volunteers and helps expand and diversify the Alumni Leader Network through effective outreach and enhanced volunteer experiences.  
  • Partners with internal and key external departments and volunteer networks to enrich programs for the Kelley School.
  • Plays a significant role in directing and managing signature level alumni engagement experiences and events for the Kelley School of Business and the Kelley School of Business Alumni Association in priority markets.  
  • Leads initiatives for the KSBAA as it relates to Professional Development and Alumni Career services.
  • Collaborates in planning and implementing best practices in alumni volunteer leadership, and develop strategies for volunteer recruitment, training, retention and recognition.  
  • Ensures that practices meet both Kelley and IUAA objectives, as defined by the school, association and university.

General Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning, development and implementation of alumni programs and major ceremonies/events that complement and advance the goals of university alumni and development offices, academic units and student life.
  • Identifies and cultivates relationships with both alumni and students to promote engagement as volunteers on committees and in programs and as dues paying members of the alumni association.
  • Develops and manages a portfolio of alumni, volunteers, donors and prospects. Collaborates with other units on fundraising efforts and events.
  • Collaborates with internal department partners and volunteer leaders to develop plans and implement programs (professional development, celebrations, fundraising) that connect students and alumni and increase engagement and participation of the local service community and the worldwide alumni community and supporters.
  • Establishes and coordinates opportunities that retain students and alumni in a lifelong relationship connected to the university.
  • Oversees the design and production of alumni-related marketing and communication, including online, social media and web content.
  • Manages unit operations and budgets; may manage a team of staff.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree In related field

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years In alumni relations, development, event planning, public affairs, marketing, and/or volunteer management

Preferred

  • 5 years of experience or closely-related experience in 1 or more of the following: alumni engagement, volunteer management, training and recruitment, event and budget management, project management, marketing and communications and fundraising.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
