Definition of Class

This position provides strategic leadership and direction for the Mission Acceleration state-level tutoring program. The incumbent leads, develops, and implements activities related to the program; creates and designs literacy instruction materials; manages curriculum selection; and oversees and manages assigned budget.

This position requires extensive travel to project partner locations across the state.

The start date for this position could be as early as possible or as late as June 1, 2024.


Examples of Work Performed
  • Leads and develops the Mission Acceleration state-level tutoring program for Mississippi.
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects academic guides to deliver educational assistance to students in grades K-5.
  • Oversees collection of background check documentation.
  • Facilitates training and designs professional materials related to literacy instruction.
  • Organizes data collection and student/academic guide information for partner sites/communities participating in the program including assessment documentation, evaluations, and consent forms.
  • Fosters and maintains communication and working relationships with key stakeholders in the project, such as partner/community leads, site supervisors, and academic guides.
  • Provides leadership and direction for implementation of the Mission Acceleration program across the state.
  • Trains academic guides, which includes being trained and named as a Trainer of the Trainers for curriculum used for tutoring students.
  • Seeks feedback from key stakeholders by conducting surveys and on-going focus groups.
  • Conducts on-site visits and/or virtual support in partner sites/communities to ensure fidelity of implementation and compliance with Mission Acceleration, University, and other requirements.
  • Collects and manages processes for obtaining and maintaining data and information including student consent forms, assessment materials, parent consent forms, and academic guide log-in information.
  • Manages project curriculum selection and academic guide digital access.
  • Oversees and maintains departmental budget and auditing paperwork.
  • Works to secure additional funding for continuation of the project and recruits new partner sites/communities for the project.
  • Prepares and maintains reporting requirements across different areas of the program at the department, university, and state levels.
  • Prepares and publishes reports, news stories, presentations, and literature related to project in various research journals and media outlets.
  • Participates in webinars, conference calls, face-to-face meetings, conferences as required by department, university, partner sites/communities, and other stakeholder groups.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

  • Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:
    Master’s Degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.


    AND


    Experience:
    Five (5) years of experience related to the above described duties.


    Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
