Job Summary
 

Key role in KSU's institutional giving program, helps develop and implement an overall fundraising strategy to secure new and renewed funding in support of KSU's mission and goals. Responsible for generating over $10 million in annual contributed revenue from corporate and private foundations. Primary responsibility is stewarding existing corporate and foundation relationships while continuing to grow the portfolio through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new prospects. Manages a portfolio of over 100 donors and prospects and concentrates on five to six-figure gifts. Ensures reports required from funders are completed and delivered on time. Works closely with division and department members to identify and research potential donors and match interests to KSU funding needs. Collaborates with team members and project leaders in development of funding requests. Partners with college deans and development staff to craft funding strategies, proposals and applications for individual colleges, academic departments and faculty initiatives.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Researches, cultivates, solicits, and stewards corporate and private foundation donors to achieve fundraising goals
2. Represents KSU to internal and external partners, including leadership and program officers, to grow and maintain key relationships, build strong community support for KSU programs, and obtain funding
3. In partnership with division colleagues, Advancement leadership and staff, board, and other internal and external partners, develops annual grant fundraising goals and strategies
4. Creates annual and monthly calendar to meet annual goals and foundation deadlines; meets submission deadlines
5. With assistance of a grant writer, writes, edits, proofreads, and submits grant proposals, letters of inquiry, acknowledgment letters, final reports, budget documents, and other materials
6. Schedules and coordinates funder site visits with corporate and foundation representatives; participates in and assists with department events and cultivation activities as needed
7. Works with Advancement Services to ensure prompt acknowledgment of all gifts related to corporate and foundation giving
8. Meets monthly fundraising activity metrics; tracks and maintains accurate records of funding requests and gifts received, use of funds, actions, and external relationships
9. In collaboration with faculty and staff, the KSU Foundation, other campus and advancement and development partners, tracks spending and performance for highly significant and visible grants; works with colleagues to ensure grant requirements are met as necessary
10. Plans and produces budget documents, program activity summaries, annual grant reports, and other updates
11. Crafts tools to assist major gift officers, faculty and other KSU partners in preparing corporate and private foundation grant requests
12. Working with development and communications team members, create collateral, special events and other public relations activities to promote the benefits of corporate and foundation partnerships with KSU


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Three (3) years of related experience


Preferred Qualifications
 

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in higher education corporate and foundation relations or development


Proposed Salary
 

The budgeted salary range is $69,280 to $97,000.  Offers are based on relevant experience.

Displays outstanding problem solving, independent judgment, organization, time management, project management and presentation skills
Must have very strong analytical skills, able to analyze data and develop targeted development strategies and written proposals based on research
Must be extremely organized and able to plan and implement strategies within a complex environment
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Blackbaud system and/or other fundraising systems)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
