General Summary

Direct all aspects of the University’s College Supports Program (CSP), which is a student success program that seeks to increase admissions, retention, and full matriculation at EMU for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through an individualized 24-hour fee-for-service supportive program.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct all CSP student success program components, including student recruitment and application process, individual student contracts and support plans, enrollment, academic program selection, academic advising, academic support, social coaching, transition to employment, and crisis response.
  • Develop and implement strategic planning for the CSP that aligns with the University’s strategic plans and ensures ongoing operational and financial success of the CSP.
  • Develop and manage the CSP budget, ensuring compliance with approved budget parameters; review and approve expenditures for equipment, supplies, and materials necessary to implement program and services.
  • Hire, train, and supervise administrative and professional staff, student employees, interns, and graduate assistants.
  • Assist in the development of marketing to support the CSP, including meeting with private education consultants, website development, and social media presence.
  • Work with the College and University administrators to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the CSP through program evaluation and dissemination.
  • Responsible for all student applications, family meetings for admission consideration, high school transition meetings, transfer student meetings, and college transitional meetings.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and other family members to ensure student success.
  • Develop, review, and expand purposeful learning opportunities, including field experiences (internships, practicum, and co-op activities) for CSP students as preparation for employment after graduation.
  • Collaborate with faculty and various departments at EMU to promote student success,
  • Participate in various University teams that support students with ASD to promote their academic and social success.
  • Collaborate with external organizations at EMU to promote the CSP, including autism advocacy organizations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with all State-mandated written reports and outcome evaluations.
  • Speak at public events on behalf of the CSP.
  • Seek external funding to support the CSP in partnership with the EMU Foundation and Office of Research Development Administration.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree or certifications in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social Work, and/or Psychology are required.
A minimum of two years of experience working with adults with ASD is required.
Demonstrated ability to meet programmatic goals and objectives is required.
Experience supervising students or staff is required.
Strong team and relationship-building skills are required.
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as conflict resolution skills, are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master’s degree is preferred.

Experience in working in a higher education environment is preferred.

Experience developing, analyzing, and providing academic support programming for students with ASD is preferred.
