POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working with a high degree of independence, the Director of Alumni Engagement will provide direction, leadership, and project management for all major alumni engagement initiatives as a means of connecting strategy to execution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide leadership in planning, executing, and evaluating all alumni, development, and donor engagement programs throughout the year including reunions, homecoming, women's leadership, donor recognition, Food with Thought faculty presentations, Family Fun Days, and programming specific to different degree programs and/or targeted populations. (30%)
2. Develop and monitor systems and practices that capture alumni participation and engagement satisfaction. Capture and produce reports containing alumni KPIs and dashboard metrics. Ensure industry standard metrics are captured through all engagement efforts¿ volunteer, experiential, philanthropic and communication. Utilize data to make informed, strategic decisions and resource investments. (20%)
3. Develop/implement strategies to increase social media engagement among alumni, utilizing platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram to connect with diverse audiences. Track and analyze trends in alumni data from LinkedIn and other sources to make recommendations on events, geographic alumni engagement activities, and affinity programming. Create/Manage alumni engagement platforms including content creation, digital applications, etc. (12%)
4. Build and oversee execution of an effective volunteer program that engages alumni in meaningful volunteer opportunities and serves as a source for alumni talent and resources for students, faculty, and staff. Help recruit and manage the Alumni Advisory Council including planning/ execution of meetings, volunteer database administration, volunteer recruitment initiatives, communications, and event-related logistics. Develop and implement an overall strategy for volunteer recruitment, pathways, recognition, and training. Create regular leadership/ professional development programs for volunteers. (10%)
5. Oversee/supervise all alumni networks (regional, corporate, affinity, etc.). Cultivate a global alumni community that feels empowered, connected, and engaged through every stage of life; bolster engagement of alumni who live outside the U.S. Create and executes plan and activities for alumni affinity groups (academic, special interest, professional affiliations, etc.), identify and cultivate volunteer leadership, develops strategies for the success of each group, identify and pursue measurable objectives, and support their events and activities. Design and deliver ongoing training experiences (virtually and in-person) that empower volunteers. (10%)
6. Manage annual alumni awards submissions, selection, and celebrations processes including the annual Hall of Fame recognition, 5/35 Honors, service awards, and other recognitions on behalf of the Weatherhead School of Management. (10%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Collaborate with faculty efforts with student Treks and collaborations with alumni in cities hosting Treks. Serve as a department liaison within the school to support alumni engagement activities sponsored by individual units. Create opportunities to celebrate and engage around affinity connections to the College, Greek life, athletics, majors, clubs, and careers. (2%)
2. Oversee student to alumni transition activities to be seamless and effective. Manage staff responsible for Student engagement, working to lead programming tied to a journey map, beginning from admission into the alumni experience. Supervise/ manage student initiatives designed to celebrate graduates, capture data, and build affinity with the External Relations Department. (2%)
3. Engage alumni communication profile processes to highlight the work and accomplishments of WSOM alumni. (2%)
4. Build/ sustain processes that support student/alumni mentoring and career services specifically for new graduates. (1%)
5. Perform other duties as assigned. (1%)
CONTACTS
Department: Frequent contact with dean, associate deans, department chairs and directors. Daily contact faculty, students and staff as required to perform essential functions.
University: Frequent contact with the president's office, vice presidents, deans, trustees, alumni, directors of administrative departments, faculty and staff as required to perform essential functions.
External: Daily contact with alumni, foundation representatives, community organizers/advocates, corporate executives and federal, state, and local government officials. Contact with foreign visitors, officials and academic boards and organizations as required to perform essential functions.
Students: Frequent contact undergraduate, graduate and professional students as required to perform essential functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for supervising assistant director for alumni relations and student employees.
QUALIFICAITONS
Experience: 5 or more years of successful, progressive experience in alumni and donor relations, including demonstrable creativity and effectiveness is required. A record of increasing alumni participation in programming and/or donation rates is required. 5 or more years of experience managing staff preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree in higher education or related field preferred.

2. Strong attention to detail, organization in high-energy, multi-faceted and complex environments. Ability to manage multiple streams of information.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, with public speaking skills preferred; excellent interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated ability in motivating volunteers is required; the ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
4. Demonstrated knowledge, accountability, and comprehension skills for formulating budgetary planning and prioritization of projects, programs, and activities, using sound judgment while meeting organizational goals.
5. High degree of energy, creativity, flexibility, organization, and interpersonal skills required.
6. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
7. Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new programs.
8. Ability to meet consistent attendance.
9. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.
10. Have a "bias for action" approach to work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office working environment. Evening and weekend work hours will be required.
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
