*Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$83,390.00

*(as of July 1, 2024 all positions will receive a 2% increase)

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$87,560.00

To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

The Director, Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for all aircraft maintenance conducted at Aims Community College in support of the Aviation Department, in the Public Safety, Education, and Transportation Division and located at Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland, Colorado. The Director, Aircraft Maintenance will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purposes of Aims Community College as stated in the college catalog. The Director, Aircraft Maintenance will supervise all aircraft maintainers at Aims Community College in support of the Aviation Department, be the responsible individual for ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations/guidance as they pertain to aircraft airworthiness, and be responsible for the management/regulatory compliance of all manuals, tools, parts, and consumables associated with the aircraft maintenance in support of the Aims Community College Aviation Department. The Director, Aircraft Maintenance is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development) and service to the college. This position will ensure that the following duties & responsibilities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
This position reports to the Chief Flight Instructor and performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Flight Instructor and/or Executive Director, Aviation Programs

Aircraft Maintenance:

  • Troubleshooting of aircraft system discrepancies.
  • Performing required inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on aircraft and associated aircraft appliances in accordance with established schedules and as directed.
  • Providing on-call aircraft and flight crew support, on rotating basis.
  • Providing local aircraft departure and arrival support – preflight checks, post-flight checks, ramp positioning, as well as oversee line service and fueling processes.
  • Testing, adjustments, and repairs on aircraft and subsystems using various test equipment, technical diagrams, maintenance manuals, and tooling.
  • Researching and investigating all possible solutions to engine, airframe, and associated appliance malfunctions.
  • Replacement of parts such as LRUs, avionics, hydraulic, fuel, and other aircraft system components.
  • Exercising sound judgment and experience to accomplish a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Perform aircraft tug maintenance as required.

Maintenance Control:

  • Coordinate and schedule all planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance for Aims fleet.
  • Providing on-call aircraft and flight crew support, on rotating basis.
  • Manage, compose and sign off aircraft logbook entries and records
  • Ensure all Aims aircraft are safe and airworthy before being returned to service
  • Perform quality assurance for all aircraft maintenance tools, equipment, and personnel.
  • Determine when aircraft are safe for return to service.

Administrative & Managerial Functions:

  • Manage aircraft parts inventory to ensure adequate supplies are on hand for aircraft maintenance.
  • Approving purchases of tools, equipment, and spare parts within the budgetary constraints.
  • Assisting with budget development as it pertains to Aircraft Maintenance.
  • Supervise, train, review work, and oversee all aircraft maintenance personnel
  • Coordinate aircraft maintenance activities with Flight Operations Coordinator and Aviation Department leadership.
  • Hangar management.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of operational aircraft maintenance experience with two (2) of those years being operational aircraft maintenance experience in General Aviation or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Of the required three (3) years of experience, one (1) year must be supervisory and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization.
  • High level of trade specific computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in risk management and mitigation.
  • Experience in personnel management.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle and/or personal vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment post-offer urine analysis.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Aviation, Education, or another related field.
  • Five (5) years operational aircraft maintenance experience in General Aviation.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Letter of designation DME (Designated Maintenance Examiner) .
  • High level computer skills.
  • FAA pilot certifications.
  • Experience with safety management systems.
