Job Description:

Direct the Division of Study Abroad Services (SAS) within the University of Florida (UF) International Center (UFIC), working as part of the UFIC management team led by the UFIC Dean and the Executive Director. Manage a team consisting of Associate Director, two Assistant Directors, five Advisors, one Enrollment & Credit Transfer Specialist and two Student Assistants. Participate in the advising process.
Work directly with faculty members, department chairs, deans, and other administrators to develop innovative study abroad programs that expand, complement, and enhance the existing portfolio. Liaise with campus partners such as Student Life, Undergraduate Affairs, Preview, Career Connections Center, the Center of Inclusion and Multicultural Affairs,  and others to identify synergies and bring to management team. 
Identify national and international models of excellence and innovation in Study Abroad, reimagine for UFIC, and bring to management for consideration to raise our quality and profile in this area.


Evaluate policies and procedures for study abroad and exchange programs in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, UF Offices of General Counsel; Procurement; Research Integrity, Security, & Compliance, etc.
Engage and integrate programming with other UFIC units, including but not limited to the Office of Global Learning via faculty certificates and the International Scholars program and the Office of Global Research to identify and prepare grant proposals for study abroad enhancements. Link study abroad development to faculty initiatives, in-country Fulbright scholars, and university priorities.
Participates in setting policies and procedures for the development of study abroad program budgets, working closely with the UFIC Fiscal unit.

Expected Salary:

$91,000.00 - $95,000.00 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Advanced degree (Master of Arts (MA) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)) in International Education or a related field
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in advising and/or working in international higher education programs

- Experience leading, managing, and developing staff effectively
- Experience living or studying abroad

- Experience working in a large, complex research university such as UF

- Experience in working with study abroad software such as Terra Dotta

- Track record of collaborating with faculty and other campus partners on projects involving students

- Experience with regulatory/compliance environment in higher education setting or in education abroad programming

- In depth understanding of the scholarship and practice of study abroad

- Experience in strategic planning and goal setting

- Excellent communication skills

 KNOWLEDGE
- Strong knowledge of current international contexts as well as of trends in international program development, enrollment trends, etc.
- Knowledge of intercultural communication and exchange
SKILLS
- Track record of presentations, publications, or service in international education field
- Competence in a second language

- Working with and interpreting data (quantitative or qualitative)
ABILITIES: Ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a dynamic team dedicated to promoting and enhancing UF’s international engagements.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Innovative individual bringing new ideas and vision. Positive, engaging personality capable of creating a culture where study abroad participation is expected, and identifying the support needed in other units to make that happen. Good listening skills.
