Job Summary
This position will coordinate and execute creation of digital content (photos, video, and related writings) for the Office of Facilities & Economic Development’s social media channels, website and other publications
The primary focus of this position is to develop materials that support the communications needs of the Office of Facilities & Economic Development (F&ED). The secondary focus of this position is to act as the emergency back-up for the Web & Communications Manager.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in arts/technology, computer science, management, marketing/advertising or a related field and 1 to 3 years of experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively on a project while interacting virtually with remote staff.
• Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and either Adobe Premier or Apple iMovie. Experience with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
• The ability to write clean HTML5 and CSS3 by hand, in a text editor. Our web sites are built in PHP; Some HTML pages are generated dynamically by PHP code that pulls information from databases to create them, while other HTML pages will have small PHP strings embedded within them, so a basic understanding of PHP is a plus.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work may include, but may not be limited to:
• Creating communications materials and original digital art that can be reused across multiple media, such as signs, flyers, PDF documents, email messages, and web sites.
• Photographing F&ED’s ongoing construction work, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings and other events. Selecting, cropping, color-correcting, and properly cataloging your best photos so they can be easily used by any non-technical staff in a variety of projects. Creating versions of photos from our archive that are optimized for display online.
• Recording and editing videos of F&ED events and walk-throughs of UTD facilities. Creating versions of your videos in multiple file formats that are optimized for the web. Creating text transcripts for videos that contain dialog to make them more accessible.
• Assisting our Web & Communications Manager in conducting tests of new online tools. Generating and editing a monthly report for our senior staff that summarizes web site activity. In an emergency, being able to edit HTML text, by hand, in a text editor.

A hybrid remote work schedule may be available for this position and will be discussed upon completion of a probationary period.
