Normal Work Schedule: Flexible; Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 10 hours per week


Note to Applicants: This is not a remote position. Student is required to work 10 hours (flexible) per week in the office.


Job Summary: The Digital Marketing/PR Student Assistant supports the Culverhouse Career Center staff. Oversees social media accounts. Provides website content. Develops, updates, revises, and designs marketing and promotional materials to include signage, social media graphics, and print materials. Videos and photographs events for website and social media content.


Additional Department Summary: Works with office staff to develop a digital marketing strategy for establishing an internet presence through social media platforms. Increases awareness of services, programs, and events. Researches other colleges’ and universities’ (specifically business school career centers) websites and social media platforms. Develops digital marketing campaigns (promoting First Destination Survey, Signing Day, and career fairs). Oversees social media accounts and manages promotions for office programs, services, and events. Reviews social media account engagement and recommends improvements for increased followers and engagement. Manages regular posting schedule of weekly offerings. Monitors and responds to comments and direct messages in a timely manner. Works with Employer Development PR Student Assistant to get content to post on Instagram for their programs and events. Markets and educates students about Career Center workshops, events and services through emails and social media (posts, stories, reels, etc.). Videos and interviews students and employers for the Culverhouse Career Center website. Seeks approval from UA Strategic Communications for all printed and online materials. Attends Culverhouse Career Center programs and events for website and social media content. Additional duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Submit resume, link to portfolio, and Fall 2024 class schedule to be considered for this position.


Skills and Knowledge: Experience managing social media accounts (not including personal accounts). Photography, videography, and graphic design experience. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to take initiative. Dependable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to accurately proof and edit material.


Preferred Qualifications: Current College of College of Communication & Information Sciences (CCIS) or Culverhouse student with experience in digital marketing, creative design, or advertising/PR. Proficient in Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
