About the Opportunity
The Digital Marketing intern will help the team with planning, evaluating and managing marketing promotions in line with our strategy across multiple initiatives and platforms. This position supports the Digital Marketing team’s focus to meet changing audience behaviors by creating rich digital content experiences across platforms, including pbsnc.org, the PBS App, and 3rd party platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

The intern will contribute to marketing plan strategy and execution for PBS NC’s summer and fall initiatives, including PBS priorities, PBS NC productions, digital-first initiatives, programs from our Education division and more.

Additionally, the Digital Marketing intern will learn more about and contribute to the full marketing lifecycle of related projects, and learn more about best practices for digital marketing and social media platforms. The intern will have hands-on responsibilities in implementing and reporting on marketing campaigns.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Intern will receive a transportation stipend and must live in North Carolina.

About the Team
PBS North Carolina’s Marketing Communications Division is responsible for the development and execution of marketing plans to drive brand awareness, engage audiences, drive fundraising and contributions, and advance the organization's mission.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Recent college graduate from an accredited college or university (student must have graduated after May 2022)
OR Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university AND a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 semester hours)
OR A graduate student (9 semester hours)

Experience in marketing, multimedia production, communications, digital production, or a related field.
Experience working with digital Content Management Systems (CMS).
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and previous experience with copyediting or proofing.
Prior experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite programs including, but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.
Experience handling multiple projects and priorities in a cross-functional team setting.

Understands and applies a variety of standardized and commonly accepted design procedures and techniques.
Understands and applies communication software programs as well as use of other applicable technology and equipment.
Ability to keep current with technical developments and trends as they relate to the field of communications, public relations, publishing, marketing and web-based communications.

Knowledge-Professional:
Basic knowledge of the methods and techniques of planning, writing and editing and producing content.
Basic knowledge of editing requirements, standards and formats as set by the department.
Basic knowledge of how to disseminate information effectively within the organization, department or program.

Communication:
Understands and communicates basic program information and routine, non-complex ideas; ability to convey information effectively to a targeted audience.
Ability to learn the communications environment and establishes working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Ability to assimilate and compose routine and non-complex materials and communications under supervision and following specific instructions.
Ability to research and draft content.
Ability to write according to correct English usage and appropriate style guide.

Consulting/Advising:
Ability to assist with communications in needs and issues in routine and non-complex situations.

Project Management:
Ability to understand customer needs and works in conjunction with higher-level specialists on delivery of communications.
Ability to draft communications as they relate to a specific area or module.
Ability to contribute ideas, recommendations and solutions to reach project goals.

Organizational Sensitivity:
Ability to understand the mission, objectives and goals of a program/unit.
Ability to understand the internal workings of the program/unit and its place in the organization.
