Position Information

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the incumbent will plan and execute external communication campaigns with a particular focus on maintaining and enhancing brand awareness, loyalty, and reputation across the college's digital platforms including but not limited to developing and implementing digital strategies for the college's various websites and social media channels. This position will work collaboratively with college teams including development, international relations, the career center, information technology, and various other internal and external entities, to promote the campaigns, programs, and initiatives supported by the college. In addition, the person serving in this role will identify, pursue, and execute reputation-building and thought leadership opportunities for the dean, college leadership, and faculty. This may include industry, regional, and national speaking engagements, distinguished lectures at peer engineering colleges, opinion editorials (op-eds), media news stories highlighting research expertise, public grant-focused special events and kick-off meetings, significant gifts, noteworthy awards, etc. This person will provide ongoing analysis and reporting of college, department, and peer rankings such as U.S. News & World Report and CSRankings.com to gauge trends, identify next steps for continued ranking improvement, and develop messaging campaigns and marketing collateral to support and elevate reputations among peers. Collateral may include newsletters, annual reports, presentations, videos, and news stories. Management of the college's contact databases of key external audiences includes current students, alumni, parents, partners, donors, and peers at engineering colleges. In this role, this person will serve as the primary liaison to the following teams across the UCR campus: digital communications, data, rankings and outreach, constituent communications, and media relations/publicity.

The salary range for the Digital Communications Manager is $71,100 - $128,700 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $85,500 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Minimum Requirements

Thorough understanding of technical language and requirements of the assigned work.
Thorough skills to create clear, easy-to-navigate, informative, accurate, well-designed, and functional web sites that provide web content consistent with the organization's message and in keeping with management directives and client objectives.
Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of design and user experience, including skill to design in an appealing, lively and relevant way.
Thorough technical skills in computer applications for web production, image handling, publishing and design, illustration, presentation preparation, animation, web interaction, and/or other state-of-the-art web communication capabilities.
Thorough knowledge of content management systems and/or relevant web applications used for web production and organization-specific computer application programs.
Thorough interpersonal communication skills.
Thorough understanding of organization's processes, procedures, and applicable rules and regulations for web communications.
Thorough skills to develop and implement original ideas and correctly identify and effectively solve problems.


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and understanding of social media channels, their respective participants, and how to best utilize each channel.
