The Dietitian will contribute to nutrition related programing and collaborates with other program staff to create efficient and accurate nutrition education for the ONIE Project that aligns with the project brand and audience psychographics. In addition, is responsible for educational program development, delivery, and evaluation, as well as implementing and managing community-based health projects involving community partners and stakeholders. ONIE is committed to providing employees with educational and professional experience, significant responsibility that expands with experience, and a congenial team atmosphere.

Duties:

  • Assesses the general nutrition of patients and participants in a study, obtains diet history, and determines dietary record.
  • Provides guidance for nutritional problems to include but not limited to obesity, diabetes. 
  • Plans and implements modified diets for patients and study participants.
  • Responds to various problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
  • Prepares various reports and records as directed. 
  • Monitors day-to-day dietary intake and related operational data. 
  • Accumulates dietary records for patients or participants.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or closely related field

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to give full attention to others, taking time to understand points being made.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with others.
  • Ability to apply general rules or procedures to a specific problem

Certifications:

  • Registered Dietitian or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.

  • Physical:  Sitting for long periods of time.  Manual dexterity.

Departmental Preferences:

  • This position will contribute to nutrition related programming and collaborate with other program staff to create efficient and accurate nutrition education for the ONIE Project, aligning with the project brand and audience psychographics. In addition, this position is responsible for educational program development, delivery, and evaluation, as well as implementing and managing community-based health projects involving community partners and stakeholders. This position will serve as a member of both the nutrition team and farmers market (FM) /local food access team.   • Strategies. Assist with developing outreach strategies and marketing tools to reach out to the appropriate audience.
  • Collaborates. Collaborates with program teams, community organizations, peers, and volunteers in the execution of events and activities. Contributes to the design and implementation of the program components related to nutrition.
  • Quality Control. Confirm nutrition education shared is accurate and up to date with USDA Dietary Guidelines. Keeps abreast of recent trends and developments in nutrition.
  • Food Safety. Oversees Foods Lab, responds to various problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
  • Nutritional Programming. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates nutritional component for programs.
  • Recipe Development and Food Stylist. Contributes to the creation of new and modified recipes, nutritionally analyzing recipes, styling recipes for photography/videography, and preparing recipe text.
  • Local Food Expansion: Coordinate recruitment to increase SNAP accept FMs and provide technical assistance for FMs. Coordinate and conduct statewide market visits including assessments, technical assistance, and material delivery. Organize promotional materials distribution. Perform process evaluation for partnering markets.
  • Development. Provides educational program development, delivery, and evaluation. Implement and manage community-based health projects involving community partners and stakeholders.
  • Evaluation. May assist with program evaluation and recommend improvements if necessary.
  • Student Mentorship. Coordinates scheduling and hosting of dietetic interns and oversees tasks for ONIE nutrition fellows.
  • Availability. Available beyond typical workday for community programing and research
