Job Description:

Assessment, Evaluation, & Management: Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients with neurological disorders. Evaluate dietary habits, nutritional status, and potential nutrition-related complications. Provide medical nutrition therapy for neurological conditions including Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and others. Stay current with scientific literature and best practices in nutritional management of neurological disorders.

Nutritional Counseling and Education: Provide clear and concise nutritional education to patients of FIND and their families. Offer guidance on dietary modifications to manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Mentor dietetic students and interns on neurological diseases, nutrition concerns in these diseases, and how to effectively counsel patients.

Monitoring and Follow-Up: Monitor patients' progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed. Conduct follow-up assessments to assess changes in needs and health status.

Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and accurate notes in the medical record with details of nutritional assessments, interventions, and communications with patients. Ensure compliance with healthcare documentation standards.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work collaboratively with neurologists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition care into treatment plans. Participate in interdisciplinary evaluations and discussions to optimize patient outcomes, including DBS Fast Track evaluations. Assist in conducting research activities, such as recruitment and clinical assessments.
Community Education and Advocacy: Engage in community outreach and education programs to raise awareness about the role of nutrition in neurological health. Advocate for the nutritional needs and well-being of patients within the healthcare system. Present at relevant conferences, symposiums, etc. about topics related to nutrition and neurological health.


Expected Salary:

$63,000; Commensurate with Experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition or food service administration; completion of American Dietetic Association approved dietetic education program.

Licensed as a Dietitian in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes.

Demonstrate the ability to identify and solve intricate clinical problems, employing analytical skills to provide medical nutrition therapy.

Apply effective logic, reasoning, and critical thinking skills to assess nutrition concerns, and apply scientifically supported recommendations.

Demonstrate effective writing and speaking skills, facilitating clear and concise communication.
