Job Summary | The College of Humanities with University Advancement is seeking an innovative fundraising professional for the position of Development Officer. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer will be part of the team raising funds for the College of Humanities, with a focus on supporting Department of Communication priorities. As a top department in the field of communication and one of the largest majors on campus, the Development Officer will work in collaboration with the Chair of Communication to lead, coordinate, plan and implement fundraising activities to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and to advance philanthropic partnerships for the Department of Communication and College of Humanities. The desired candidate will have experience working with donors, funders and alumni, cultivating donor relationships, prospect research, portfolio management, case statement and proposal writing, soliciting leadership and major gifts, and donor stewardship. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); three years of fund-raising experience which includes direct solicitation of contributions, volunteer leadership support, written and verbal presentations, and strategy and market development are required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in grant or proposal writing and a background working with local print and electronic media is preferred. Demonstrated negotiating skills are also preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
