Job Description:
- Serves as a departmental expert on issues of affordability, access, and inclusion.
- Leads admissions partnerships with community-based organizations, local governments and University stakeholders to recruit the very best and brightest applicants to the University of Chicago.
- Designs implementation strategies for admissions goals and priorities set by AVP and University leadership.
- Works closely with AVP and senior leadership team members on admissions planning and office strategy.
- Manages strategic planning and goal-setting in areas of expertise.
- Builds relationships and assesses outcomes to determine ROI.
- Supports admissions efforts by reviewing applicants for admission in assigned territory.
- Liaise with various University partners including Odyssey working group, Center for Identity and Inclusion (OMSA/LGBTQ/SSS), Dean of Students Office, College Center for Student Success (CCSS), Office of Civic Engagement, Student Care Team.
- Manages a domestic or international territory and is the primary evaluator of applications for admission from those territories and serves as members of the admissions committee.
- Managing the territory includes conducting high school visits, attending college fairs, and hosting presentations either virtually or by travel to the territory. Territory travel may last 4-6 weeks over the course of a year.
- Coordinates staff among various teams across the department, division, and University to appropriately execute programs and initiatives.
- Serves as a senior leader to the department and an advisory role to the Dean of Admissions.
- Delivers information sessions, specialized presentations, and participates in virtual and on-campus events for prospective students.
- Responds to inquiries via phone and email providing a positive experience for all who interact with department.
- Develops operational plans to develop and execute admissions strategies, policies, and procedures.
- Manages the planning and implementation of public presentations, special events, and other recruitment activities.
- Manages managers and professional staff. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- University of Chicago alumni or selective liberal arts college alumni.
Certifications:
- Valid United States driverâ™s license.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of SLATE CRM.

- Strong management and leadership qualities, including both the ability to delegate and execute, thereby leading by work and example.
- Self-directed, results-oriented work ethic.
- Deep commitment to customer service, prioritize and balance different work streams, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated success in maintaining collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal, quantitative, and networking skills. Background developing and delivering presentations.
- Expertise in program development, or a related area. Prior small-group program management and/or event planning experience.
- Successful experience working both independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Strong coaching or counseling skills.
Working Conditions
- Work will take place in an office setting and remotely, during work-related travel, on and off-campus events, and application review season.
- Work evening hours and weekends on an occasional basis.
- Some travel.
