Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – Deputy Chief CRNA

The Department of Anesthesiology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a qualified individual for the faculty position of Specialist / CRNA to serve as the Deputy Chief CRNA who will assist the Chief CRNA in all duties and responsibilities.  This position reports to the Chief CRNA. They are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual committed to patient care for the UT Health Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH), UT ambulatory sites, and other clinical venues as developed, Monday through Friday as needed.

Other Duties:

·        Assist in the management of the daily CRNA staffing operations for the Department of Anesthesiology at the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital (MSRH) in close coordination with the Clinical Chief of MSRH, Medical Director of Ambulatory Anesthesia, service line directors and Chief Residents.

·        Provide clinical and administrative leadership that supports and aligns with the strategic vision of the Chief CRNA and Department Administrator.

·        Support the growth and development of student CRNA’s in our department as part of our educational mission.

·        Align with the Vice Chair of Quality and Patient Safety on departmental quality improvement and patient safety programs in collaboration with hospital programs.

·        Follow hospital and ambulatory surgery center policies.

·        Provide clinic anesthesia care, as necessary, in accordance with the CRNA privileges.

·        Support the professional development of CRNA faculty.

·        Facilitate communication between departmental CRNA’s and Human Resources

  Qualified candidate must be:

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia
  • Certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or have certification pending
  • Registered or have registration pending as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Skilled in all types of anesthetic techniques including regional anesthesia, general anesthesia, and invasive monitoring  
  • ACLS certified or obtaining certification
