Position Summary | The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is seeking a dynamic administrative leader for the full-time position of Department Administrator R2. This position serves as the primary point of contact for the department and oversees the day-to-day activities across the unit. The Department Administrator provides a wide range of support including research grant submission and administration, special projects, problem resolution and monitoring finances in excess of $2M. This position reports to and works closely with the Department Chair in the day to day operations. This position requires strong organizational and critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential matters discretely. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize work and effectively oversee multiple projects and deadlines for a diverse group. Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 4 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
Preferred Qualifications | · Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent experience · 3-5 years experience in a leadership role in the UNM HSC · Demonstrated experience in fiscal management including grants submission and management processes and PCard policies and procedures (i.e. Banner, LoboMart, LoboWeb, EPAFs, Chrome River) · Demonstrated experience in all phases of personnel management, including hiring, performance reviews, performance management, team leadership and training. · Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community · Ability to prioritize, manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously · Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment · Attention to detail and high level of organization skills · Demonstrated ability to research, collect, analyze and compile data and develop project reports, to include trend analysis and business planning. |
