Position Summary
The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for Department Chair of Art.

Qualifications


Minimum Required Education
A terminal degree (MFA, PHD) in one of the areas of instruction in the department.
Minimum Required Experience
  • Experience in administrative academic leadership.
  • Direct experience with NASAD accreditation processes and procedures.
  • At least seven (7) years of teaching experience and a proven record of teaching excellence at the college or university level.
Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications
None
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external funding through grant writing and fundraising efforts.
  • A strong record of creative work or scholarly research equivalent to the rank of associate or full
  • professor.
  • Strong record of service in an academic setting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching two courses each semester.
  • Planning, developing, and administering the department’s budget.
  • Actively seeking and securing external funding through grant writing and fundraising efforts.
  • Representing the art department to the College of Liberal Arts, the university, professional organizations, and the general public.
  • Participating in public departmental and university programming.
  • Maintaining an agenda of creative and scholarly work.
  • Upholding the goals of the department and the university while supporting a growing undergraduate program.
  • Preparing reports on academic and institutional data.
  • Facilitating and maintaining NASAD accreditation.
  • Supervising facilities and resources for the art department.
  • Organizing recruitment and advising efforts.
  • Leading and supporting a diverse and dynamic faculty.
