Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Radiology Clinic Manager supports and contributes to the clinic mission statement by taking radiographic images and performing other related activities in the Radiology Clinic.

Essential Functions
  • Instruct students on image capture technique; monitor and evaluate student performance and provide verbal feedback regarding proper use of equipment, infection control, quality of imaging, and use of the clinic system related to saving and storing of images.
  • Take images to include I-Cats, tomos, FMX, Panos, Cephs, bitewings, periapical, and Occlusal.
  • Confirm functioning of all digital radiographic units in the Radiology and main clinics, and respond to need for trouble shooting or repair as needed; assist satellite clinics with digital unit trouble shooting.
  • Scan x-rays and x-ray prescriptions to clinic system; export images from e-mail or CD to Mipac; create and track CD for patient’s provider containing I-Cat or tomo images.
  • Enter information regarding I-Cat images taken; format reports that contain x-ray images to be forwarded to internal and external providers.
  • Enter patient appointment information, radiographic treatment plan, confirmation of fee arrangements, and other documentation in clinical system.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the radiology facility and equipment; replenish and replace supplies as necessary.
  • Assist receptionist with patient care activities to include scheduling patient appointments.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Manager, OMFS, Implant, and Radiology Services and/or the Director of Radiology.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
  • Digital radiography equipment and usage including CBCT equipment.
  • Dental terminology.
  • Radiation safety, physics and hygiene.
  • Infection control procedures.
  • Basic computer operations including Excel, image import/export, and electronic duplication of files to CD.

Ability to:
  • Take digital radiographs of the highest diagnostic standard.
  • Demonstrate to students and technicians the use of all radiographic equipment and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and general public.
  • Work independently.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Adapt to a changing environment.
  • Organize and prioritize assignments.

Experience:
  • Minimum one year experience as a dental radiology technician in a dental practice or x-ray laboratory.
  • Minimum one year experience taking CBCT imaging in dental practice or x-ray lab.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current California certification in Radiation Safety.

Working Conditions:
  • Position is full-time, five (5) days per week, seven and one-half (7.5) hours per day.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens may reasonably be anticipated. Personal protective equipment will be provided to reduce or eliminate exposure to routine or limited infectious agents.

Hiring Range 30.88 per hour
