The Ohio State University’s College of Dentistry is seeking a dental assistant to support three locations on a rotating schedule.

The full-time dental assistant assists in chairside clinical operations and operatory functions; assists in four-handed dental treatment; provides support of patient treatment and dental student education, performs chair-side treatment in addition to taking and developing or duplicating intraoral and extraoral radiographs and is responsible for set up and tear down of operatories; and organizes and provides assistance with lab courses.


Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:30 to 4:30, may vary based on provider availability.

The targeted hiring pay range is $17.10 - $22.61 based on education and experience and internal equity.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
 

Physical Requirements: A dental assistant needs to be able to: use of both hands, dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. The use of feet is necessary to manipulate the rheostat for hand pieces or other dental equipment. The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures. The ability to sit and stand for duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: bloodborne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; use of sharp instruments; and latex.
 

Education and Experience Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma or GED plus 1 year of relevant experience.

Desired: Associate degree in health care or related field; 3 years’ full time chair side experience or 6 years of part time chair side experience; current CPR license; current radiology license; completion of an accredited dental assistant training program; excellent interpersonal skills; experience and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments; experience in an educational setting, computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internet/email desired.
