We are seeking Dean of Nursing candidates with a valid MSN and

(3) three or more years teaching in a nursing program at or above the level of the Associate of Applied Science Degree

 We are offering relocation up to $5,000.00.

Charter College, Anchorage, AK., is seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join our institution as a Dean. The Dean will play a crucial role in overseeing the academic and administrative functions, fostering a positive learning environment, and driving strategic initiatives to enhance educational outcomes.

The Dean of Nursing is responsible for establishing the culture and strategic initiatives to provide accessible, high quality undergraduate nursing education to diverse student populations for the development of safe effective nursing professionals.

The Dean of Nursing will develop and implement strategic plans to advance the institution's mission and vision. This person supervises the nursing academic program, faculty, and staff to ensure quality education delivery, while managing the budget and financial operations within the academic department.

The Dean of Nursing reports to the Dean of Education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains Nursing Program curriculum for both current and future programs in collaboration with the Instructional Design department.
  • Maintains acceptable student outcomes for the Nursing Programs including but not limited to the following:
  • - Credentialing Licensure
  • - Pass Rate
  • - Graduate Placement Rate
  • - Completion Rate
  • - Retention Rate
  • - Student, Graduate, Clinical Affiliate, Employer, and Faculty Satisfaction Rates.
  • - Serve as a consultant as needed to other Medical programs.
  • - Sustains accreditation status for all Nursing programs.
  • Collects, analysis and reports the required data as mandated by the various agencies with oversite of the Nursing Program. Including but not limited to ACEN, ABHES, ACPE, and the Alaska Board of Nursing.
  • Partner with Compliance and Academic leadership to complete all required reports as mandated by the various agencies with oversite of the Nursing Program.
  • Supervise and mentor all Nursing Faculty.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty and community stakeholders to review curriculum on a regular basis for updates to test plans and changes in practice.
  • Review all nursing program systematic evaluation plans.
  • Ongoing development and review of program mission, curriculum, faculty, and students..
  • Develop and implement with the nursing program faculty, the Systematic Program Evaluation plan.
  • Collaborates with Campus President and Nursing faculty in the development and administration of the Nursing Program budget plan for capital expenditures and equipment replacement.
  • Represent the nursing department of Charter College- Anchorage to the community at large, other post-secondary education institutions, the Board of Nursing, and accreditation bodies.
  • Interact with vendors to further develop, maintain and review the Curriculum Management Articulation Program (CMAP) for nursing program.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Design department to create, obtain, and/or review syllabi, lesson plans, tests, lecture notes, texts, and other classroom material.
  • Set and administer the schedule for review and revision of nursing program curriculum. This includes establishment and utilization of best practice guidelines in nursing education.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices in nursing education.
  • Direct regional Professional Advisory Committee meetings to ensure the community needs are met by the nursing program.
  • Collaborate with other employees to design and/or maintain the physical plant used by the nursing program.
  • Collaborate with other college leadership staff to achieve high organizational results in area of admissions, customer satisfaction, student retention, student success, and financial aid.
  • Jointly develop and maintain job descriptions for nursing program staff with human resources at Prospect Education.
  • Interview and select nursing program faculty and staff.
  • Orient nursing program faculty and staff to Prospect Education, Charter College, and the Nursing program.
  • Design and/or maintain and manage faculty development plans and continuing education.
  • Facilitate use of innovative, evidence based best practice methods for teaching/learning.
  • Substitute for nursing instructors as needed.
  • Attend college faculty meetings, Director and program chair meetings. Plan and direct nursing faculty meetings.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with student clinical sites. Collaborate with Career Services to initiate and maintain MOU/contract with clinical sites.
  • Collaborate with nursing faculty to evaluate clinical sites. This activity includes ensuring site visits; and student, faculty and site relationship success. Topics covered under this duty include clinical site use and maintenance, scheduling, student performance during clinical, and attainment of clinical objectives.
  • Monitor and resolve faculty conflicts or problems.
  • Manage students in program by being advisor, mentor, evaluator in matters concerning academic performance, clinical performance, scheduling, progression through program, and need for remediation.
  • Ensure student files are up to date regarding academic records, health examination, immunizations, background check, grade records, and attendance.
  • Ensure drops are minimized, and records of matriculation, NCLEX pass rates and job placement are maintained and accurate.
  • Collaborate with the Prospect Education compliance department and academic leadership to ensure initial and ongoing approval/accreditation with local and national regulatory/accreditation agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Master’s Degree of Nursing Required, Doctorate Preferred.
  • Must meet all qualifications required by the Alaska Board of Nursing, Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, and ACEN.
  • Three or more years teaching in a nursing program at or above the level of the Associate of Applied Science Degree
  • Three or more years in an administrative role of a nursing program at or above the level of the Associate of Applied Science Degree
  • Maintain current personal education, nursing license and certifications required to practice nursing in Alaska.
  • Demonstrated competence in curriculum development and revision.
  • Ability to interact with Alaska Board of Nursing, nursing professional organizations and certifying accreditation agencies.
  • Three or more years experiences teaching nurses.
  • Leadership and management experience, preferably in health care industry or nursing.
  • Superior computer skills in MS Office Suite
  • Excel communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.

COMPENSATION

  • Full Time - Exempt - Salaried Position
  • $5,000 Relocation Assistance Provided
  • Wage Range $ 125,200.00 to $154,000.00
  • Eligible to participate in the Education Loan Repayment Program to receive $7,500.00 annually and a total benefit of $80,000.
  • Compensation dependent on experience, knowledge and education level

OTHER

· The DON is expected to complete one in-service education session each quarter to improve their teaching skills and to complete nursing professional development and evidence based nursing activities that support the profession and faculty nursing expertise.
