Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Graduate School Data Systems and Reporting Analyst serves as a vital member of the Graduate School and Graduate, Continuing, and Lifelong Education (GCLE) functional area, as well as participates in the internal and external initiatives and activities in support of the Graduate School’s and University’s priorities.
  • Manages, and coordinates the automated systems, business processes, and information workflows of the Graduate School
  • Responsible for system administration, data management, and report development pertaining to graduate programs and graduate students
  • Uses advanced analytics and predictive modeling to answer questions about graduate enrollment and retention, the graduate student experience, graduate program outcomes, and the effect of graduate student success initiatives
  • This position supervises the data and reporting staff within the Graduate School and supports other units within GCLE as needed
  • Collaborates with the Coordinator of Graduate Admissions to organize, plan, test, and approve all aspects of graduate admissions system implementation and modifications; the Data Systems and Reporting Analyst supervises all migration of data and represents the Graduate School on all technology related committees
  • This position creates and oversees security protocols for processing sensitive information during the admissions process
  • This position requires a commitment to quality service in which a high level of discretion and confidentiality is essential when working with sensitive student and personnel information; the incumbent must embrace emerging technologies and look for opportunities to create process efficiency through system configuration
  • The incumbent works independently, using sound judgement, diplomacy, and tact while working with university leadership, faculty, and staff
  • This is a customer-centric, fast-paced environment which requires work to be performed with a sense of urgency in completing day-to-day activities with a strong focus on high performance, collaboration, and innovation
  • This position reports to the Dean of the Graduate School
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
 Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Computer coursework may be substituted year for year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. 
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
  • Experience in higher education particularly working with student data and program metrics
  • Experience in report writing/development and analytics using SQL and other tools such as Power BI and Tableau
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Ability to interpret federal, state, system office, and university policies
  • Ability to independently problem-solve both precedented and unprecedented challenges
  • Ability to function as a self-starter functioning autonomously with minimal direction
  • Ability to constantly assess priorities and reprioritize tasks as needed
