The lives and livelihood of over 1-billion people are directly connected with the health of our coral reefs, via the marine life they incubate and sustain, tourism, shoreline protection, etc. Under the supervision of Professor Falko Kuester, the Data Systems Analyst 1 will assist with research/exploration of basic techniques for the analysis of corals and the larger reef ecosystem, seeking to assess overall reef health, by studying the types of coral species present, how they cluster and interact, grow, change, decay, regrow or die.

Assist PI and project team with facilitating data collection and analysis for project. Coordinate mission planning, data collection and analysis of 3D and cartographic data. With assistance process, analyze and review data for quality assurance, developing and proposing plans for changes, as needed. Evaluate and refine basic workflows for field data collection and data processing with 3D scanning systems. Field deployments will include work in diverse environments, requiring local, domestic, and international travel.

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Engineering or a related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Experience in acquisition and processing of 3D data across modalities and data types.

  • Knowledge and experience in applying photogrammetry concepts to field data acquisition

  • Knowledge relating to logical data design, data warehouse design, data integration or the management of web content or other unstructured data.

  • Familiarity with important types of data models such as logical / relational models, dimensional models and document models.

  • Knowledge and experience with terrestrial and SLAM-based lidar data acquisition and data processing.

  • Knowledge of relevant rules and regulations.

  • Understanding of data management operations and database administration, including data modeling, data definition, data conversion and management of content or unstructured information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.

  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems.

  • Willing and able to travel for local, domestic, and international deployments.

  • Must have current passport.

  • Employment is contingent upon candidate clearing a background check.


Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
