Data Curation Scientist

The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks a molecular/computational biologist at the Associate Professional Specialist rank in Kara Dolinski's biological database group at Princeton University.  

This is a one-year term position, with the possibility for renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding.

The primary duty of this position is to analyze data obtained from scientific literature, systematic functional analysis projects, and the submissions of database users, primarily for the BioGRID database of molecular interactions (https://thebiogrid.org/).  Data Curation Scientists are expected to perform analyses that require a high-level understanding of the biomedical scientific literature and experimental procedures at both the gene and the genome level. Data Curation Scientists also contribute to the design and implementation of new tools that aid in the display and analysis of biological data. The Data Curation Scientist will work as part of a team of biologists and software developers to maintain the databases and have an important role in providing online assistance to the databases' users and serving as representatives of the group at scientific meetings.  

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in the biological sciences, computational biology, or a related field. Candidates must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, actively participate in group discussions, and apply critical thinking in problem solving. Experience in performing and analyzing genome-wide studies is preferred. Previous work with biological databases is very beneficial.
