The Health and Retirement Study (HRS) Program is a research program housed within the Survey Research Center (SRC) at the Institute for Social Research (ISR). Our program supports multiple research projects surrounding the health and economics of aging ( https://hrs.isr.umich.edu/about ).
Reporting to a Research Associate in the Data Processing Team and working both independently and in a team environment, you will clean, process, and document data to create special and ad hoc data products, and support general data products for release to the research community under established deadlines. You will facilitate access to these data products. You will work with faculty investigators, senior research staff, data production team, temporary employees and students, in addition to external investigators, collaborators, and funders. Discretion with confidential data is required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of professional experience working as Data Architect, Research Technician, or similar role
- 3+ years of professional experience with restricted and confidential data
- 1+ years of experience designing, constructing or maintaining databases (e.g. Access)
- Proficiency in SAS (3+ years), SPSS and Stata (1-3 years) in a professional setting
- 3+ years of experience with data governance and compliance regulations
- 2+ years of experience providing support to external data users
- 3+ years of experience with integrated social science and health data
- Familiarity with the HRS longitudinal and administrative data
- Ability to establish and manage priorities for self and others
- Ability to identify and solve complex data problems
- Ability to work on and direct several projects concurrently
- Ability to design and implement research strategies
- 3+ years of customer service experience

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000, determined by skills and experience.
