The Neuroscience Department at Barnard College is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data and Statistical Analyst.Job Description:
As a Data and Statistical Analyst in our department, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preprocess fMRI data and, if possible, help conduct the fMRI scans.
- Connectomics Analysis: Utilize state-of-the-art tools and software to analyze large-scale connectomics datasets, helping to uncover and map neural circuits.
- Confocal Image Analysis: Process and analyze confocal microscopy images using Fiji and Imaris software, ensuring high-quality data extraction and analysis.
- Video image analysis with programs such as Deep Lab Cut.
- Training and Collaboration: Train and collaborate with students and researchers in the lab, providing guidance and support in data analysis techniques, programming, and statistical analysis.
- Data Management: Organize and maintain data repositories, ensuring the security and integrity of experimental data.
- Programming: Apply programming skills, particularly in Python, to develop custom scripts and tools for data analysis and visualization.
- Statistical Analysis: Conduct statistical analysis of experimental data, including hypothesis testing, data visualization, and interpretation.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and organized documentation of analysis methods, procedures, and results.
Salary: $65,000 - 70,000 annually
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python and/or Matlab is essential for developing custom data analysis scripts and automation tools. Familiarity with Bash is desirable.
- Statistical Analysis: Strong understanding of statistical methods and experience with statistical analysis software is required.
- Image Processing: Familiarity with image processing techniques and software
- Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as biology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for dissecting complex neural data.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team of scientists and students.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey analysis results and provide training to lab members.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for accurate data analysis and documentation
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
