Position Summary

This is a full time (100% FTE) position responsible for coordinating and assisting with oversight of reporting requirements for the King-Chavez-Parks (KCP) 4S grant housed under the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Performs office work directly related to the management or general business operations associated with the KCP grant. Responsible for providing fiscal tracking of grant expenditures and serves as lead coordinator for the annual renewal of the grant and for quarterly and annual grant reporting. Serves as liaison with MSU Contract and Grant Administration in support of the Project Investigator. Receives and collects data for all KCP related programs in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, communicates with program faculty, students, staff, and internal and external stakeholders, and composes program reports. This is an off-date position funded for one year from date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.

-Serves as lead coordinator for grant annual renewal, quarterly and year-end grant reporting (financial, narrative, and grade data), fiscal tracking, and related systems training; serves as liaison with MSU Contracts & Grants Administration in support of the Project Investigator.

-Receives and collects financial data for all programs during the academic year and summer.

-Collects data (grades, student performance, and program management).

-Composes reports for programs during the academic year and summer.

-Reviews information for accuracy and completeness.

-Communicates with program faculty, students, staff, internal and external stakeholders


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Finance, or a research-related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration in one or more of the research process areas of pre- or post-award processes, such as regulatory administration; experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database software; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. The job also requires: completion of Essentials of Research Administration (MSU certificate) or equivalent within one year of hire.

 


Desired Qualifications

Experience with grant submissions, including requests for federal, state, local, and industry agencies, uploading and inputting requests into appropriate agency portals, particularly Grants.gov, and assisting with annual grant narratives and financial data. Experience in maintaining and reconciling bookkeeping records and assisting with budget planning, grant proposals and forecasting
