Position Summary:
 
Campus Recreation serves as an integral part of the university life by offering diverse sports, recreational and fitness activities that are fun, vigorous, healthy and conducive to personal wellness. The department supports the academic mission by creating a climate that motivates individuals to embrace a healthy lifestyle, build social communities and develop leadership opportunities that contribute to anteater pride. The vision of the department is to provide programs and services to the anteater community in a manner that meets or exceeds the standards of excellence of the University.
 
Under direction of the Custodial Supervisor and Lead Custodian, the incumbent performs semi-skilled, skilled cleaning and custodial services to the Anteater Recreation Center. These duties are performed for the majority of their time which require a greater degree of training, skill, independence of action, physical effort and/or experience than that typically found at the Custodian level. Incumbents operate vacuum cleaners, carpet extraction equipment, stand on vacuum cleaners, stand on scrubbing equipment, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines during stripping, waxing, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations. Locker room cleaning and sanitation, kitchen cleaning, and fitness equipment cleaning. Cleaning of fixtures and furniture, interior trash removal, window cleaning, and additional tasks as necessary to ensure all facilities are maintained at a high level of cleanliness. Responsibilities may include overtime. May include after-hours emergency response cleaning. Make reports on building and/or equipment needs. Have security responsibility of one or more assigned areas.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $41,467.68 - $47,689.92 (Hourly Rate). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $19.86 - $26.20 (Hourly Rate).

Required:
 

• Skill in general custodial responsibilities. 
• Knowledge of methods, materials, chemical disinfectants, and equipment used in custodial work. 
• Ability to learn and follow safety guidelines. Ability to learn security procedures. 
• Ability to work well with the public and department staff. Ability to report damage to building and equipment. 
• Ability to safely operate and maintain various cleaning machines and equipment.
   

Special Conditions Required:
 

• Must accept a work week beginning at 4:00am and ending at 12:30pm, Thursday – Monday including occasional overtime.
