Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill full-time Custodian positions in the Department of Recreational Sports.
The Department of Recreational Sports (DRS) is a unit of Student Affairs that is committed to advancing student success. Transformative student learning is advanced through programs, services, and facilities, which contribute to health and a culture of well-being at Oregon State University. Recreational Sports provides opportunities to enrich student development and enhance transferable skills through experiences in programs and services, including the student employment program. This position will adhere to all OSU and Department of Recreational Sports (DRS) policies and procedures. The goal of DRS Custodial Services is to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in all DRS facilities. The primary purpose of this position is to contribute to the successful delivery of DRS programs and services through seamless integration of exemplary custodial services within all department areas. Custodians are committed to the overall success and satisfaction of DRS participants and the OSU Community. Custodians perform cleaning and general maintenance in support of department efforts to sustain its facilities and assets. Custodians provide services and support in all DRS facilities (Dixon Recreation Center, McAlexander Field House, Student Legacy Park (SLP) Complex, SLP Tennis Center, SLP Pavilion.)

What We Require

What You Will Need
  • Physical ability to perform work.
  • This position requires CPR and AED certification and additional training and will be provided by the Department upon hire and should be completed withing the first 90 days of employment.
What We Would Like You to Have
  • Six (6) months of experience performing routine janitorial duties in a commercial, educational, or public environment.
  • Willingness to work any shift.
  • Ability to understand and produce written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Successful experience as a custodian or housekeeper.
  • Experience working in an educational or institutional setting.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Dedication to a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in cleaning and maintaining hard surface flooring including tile, wood and marmoleum, and sports performance surfaces (rubber/gym/urethane) and indoor/outdoor synthetic turf.
  • Experience in cleaning locker rooms/showers/saunas/changing rooms.
  • Experience with cleaning up blood borne pathogens.
  • Experience with cleaning public venues and public-use facilities.
  • Experience with cleaning recreational/athletic facilities.
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This position works in various environments including but not limited to:
Recreation/sport/activity space, office/work environment, locker room/restrooms, exterior hardscape/grounds. This position may work outside during seasonally varying weather conditions. This position interacts with participants and the general public on a daily basis. A typical work shift is Tue-Sat 4am-1230pm, Wed-Sun 4am-1230pm, Thu-Mon 4am-1230pm, Sun-Thu 4am-1230pm, 5 days per week which may include weekends. Has the potential of serving in an on-call rotation for after-hours clean-up needs throughout the year. May need to flex schedule to accommodate special events/needs.
