Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:		 

This position provides for the care, cleaning and maintenance of the university buildings, furniture, fixtures.

  • Cleans, disinfects and replenishes restrooms.
  • Empties trash and cleans trash containers.
  • Cleans  glass, and  dust, wipes and cleans furniture and fixtures.
  • Sweeps porches and steps. 
  • Cleans staircases.
  • Requisitions and stocks cleaning supplies for assigned area.

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions on Material Safety Data Sheets and manufacturer's instructions for product use.
  • Ability to count and read instructions.
  • Ability to transport furniture and trash liners.
  • The Custodian position is physically demanding. The incumbent spends their work day standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors and moving desks and furniture. The incumbent is required to do a great deal of stretching and bending.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations. Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
   
Required Education High school diploma or equivalent.
   
Required Experience No experience required.  Housekeeping/custodial experience is preferred. Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English preferred.
