SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK (IN-SOCW-IUINA)

The IU School of Social Work works in collaboration with the Indiana Department of Child Services to better protect children at risk of abuse and neglect. A key to this collaboration is the creation of the Child Welfare Education and Training Partnership. The Partnership is designed to provide high quality social work education and statewide training for public child welfare employees. It provides BSW students with preparation for employment, it allows DCS employees to enroll in the School's part-time MSW Program, and it provides state-of-the-art training to current DCS employees.

Department-Specific Responsibilities 

  • Develops curriculum in accordance with Department of Child Services policy and practice standards.
  • Works closely with Partnership Exec Team to prioritize projects, modality, timelines, etc.
  • Communicates with feedback groups, SMEs, project leads, workgroups, and pilot trainers to ensure curriculum is reviewed, updated, and piloted according to plan.

General Responsibilities 

  • In coordination with educational leadership, faculty, and/or staff, designs curriculum for students, courses, degree programs, or schools.
  • Consults with Partnership and DCS staff to determine curricular needs and identify gaps; creates course objectives and outcomes to reach targeted learning.
  • Reviews proposals to modify existing course curriculum and create new courses; ensures accuracy of information and determines whether proposal aligns with standards and objectives for the course.
  • Assists with preparation and dissemination of course materials.
  • Performs evaluation and assessment activities, ensuring consistency across purview, including observation of courses, preparation of course evaluation results, development of reports and outcomes for accreditation review, and analysis of feedback from faculty regarding curricular outcomes.
  • Manages curriculum mapping process.
  • May make process recommendations to manager for improved operational efficiency.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.

Preferred

  • Master's degree. 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years in related field. 

Preferred

  • Familiarity with child welfare. 
  • Experience with instructional design concepts and principles.
  • Experience teaching and/or training techniques and strategies.
  • Experience with online teaching and learning methods.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
