Job Description

ASU FIDM in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University is seeking a full time Curriculum Coordinator to coordinate the academic and curriculum activities and actions in accordance with priorities set by the School’s leadership and ASU policies and procedures. The Curriculum Coordinator reports to the ASU FIDM School Director.

The Curriculum Coordinator, under the supervision of the School Director, will build, manage, and track the academic schedule and implement processes related to course scheduling including room requests, course overrides, Faculty Associate hiring, Admin Proxy requests, and Academic Record Changes. The Curriculum Coordinator will also execute curriculum processes including academic strategic plan submissions, program proposals, new/modify course form submissions, online course development, course evaluations, transfer articulation, assessment planning, and assessment data collection. The Curriculum Coordinator also performs research projects to improve scheduling and curriculum for the school.

Salary Range

$65,000 -$70,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Designs and develops specific methodology and materials unique to the curriculum scheduling area.
  • Serves as an expert on scheduling for faculty and staff.
  • Acts as liaison with the students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs.
  • Provides training and professional development in curriculum and scheduling.
  • Consults with staff, students, and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation.
  • Reviews and evaluates effectiveness of related methods and work activities.
  • Collects, analyzes, and disseminates data regarding class evaluations to faculty and leadership.
  • Facilitates action for leadership teams and leaders to direct and guide curriculum and scheduling.
  • Maintains professional correspondence with faculty regarding curriculum and schedule.
  • Collects and analyzes research data for application to related curriculum and scheduling.
  • May supervise, lead, train and monitor the activities of assigned staff.
  • Assists with hiring.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and principles. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in field of program, project, or initiative expertise. 
  • Experience in creative Problem Solving
  • Experience in designing presentation materials. 
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. 

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (85%); frequently required to stand and walk (15%)
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (40%)
  • Ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax machine and copier.
