JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Curriculum Coordinator provides support for pharmacy students, faculty, and staff in the delivery of the curriculum, the assessment of student learning, and academic success for the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy (COP). The position facilitates curricular delivery and monitors course and student academic performance. This position identifies students for early academic intervention and advises and triages students to the correct resources in conjunction with the course directors, Assistant/Associate deans, and UTHSC Office of Student Success.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs day-to-day processes and assists in procedures to ensure the success of the P1 or P2 year across all campuses.
  • Assists with the successful and seamless delivery of the curriculum, student assessment of learning, and student academic support across three campuses.
  • Collaborates with course directors to ensure deadlines for course syllabi and Blackboard course materials are met and troubleshoots student or faculty issues.
  • Creates, delivers, and coordinates proctoring across campuses for assessments of student learning.
  • Assess the academic progress of students through routine review of academic performance, one-on-one advising, and utilization of academic resources; implement and monitor personalized student learning plans, including student progress and follow-through.
  • Coordinates accommodations for student cohorts and communicates needed information to other campuses and with the UTHSC Office of Student Success.
  • Maintains, assesses, and generates reports on student engagement and academic results from academic advising and student success.
  • Problem solves day-to-day issues and/or conflicts with course directors, faculty, students, scheduling, behavior, etc.
  • Tracks and monitors assigned student cohorts on academic probation and those who earn less than a C- or no pass during a semester.
  • Communicates with students regarding their academic status in a non-judgmental and confidential manner, including emails, preparation of academic letters, and one-on-one discussions.
  • Coordinates and assists the Academic Standing and Promotion Review (ASPR) committee and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Assessment with ASPR-related meetings.
  • Forwards student academic letters and communicate academic status to the appropriate people in a timely manner.
  • Oversees exam review processes and procedures for the College, in conjunction with other coordinators and Nashville and Knoxville staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in higher learning/education or student support; OR Associate’s Degree and four (4) years of experience in higher learning/education or student support. (Experience in student academic advising/coaching, tutoring, academic monitoring, and study skill development preferred.)

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of expectations for pharmacy students for success in the PharmD, ACPE requirements, campus resources, and adult learning theories.
    • Excellent computer software skills with proficiency in Banner, Argos, Blackboard (or other LMS), ExamSoft, CORE, Qualtrics, and Microsoft 365 applications and software.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to present materials in an understandable way and adapt the presentation to the student or faculty needs.
    • Ability to problem-solve, critically think, recognize more efficient processes, and complete tasks timely and accurately.

    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
