Position Summary:
 
Campus Recreation serves as an integral part of university life by offering diverse sports, recreational, and fitness activities that are fun, vigorous, healthy, and conducive to personal wellness. We support the academic mission by creating a climate that motivates individuals to embrace a healthy lifestyle, build social communities, and develop leadership opportunities that contribute to anteater pride. The vision of the department is to provide programs and services to the anteater community in a manner that meets or exceeds the standards of excellence of the University.
 
Specialized and skilled leader for a non-accredited culinary program located within campus recreation. Creates and implements culinary programs for participants of all ages and may serve as a lead or mentor for other program instructors and may be required to provide instruction. Program leaders at this level are required to demonstrate considerable discretion, initiative, and independence to resolve issues and perform other duties as assigned. The culinary operations manager will handle all responsibilities required to continue the existing culinary program successfully. Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating dynamic programming that provides recreational and educational opportunities within the scope of culinary pursuits. Also includes meeting and following up with potential clients, menu development, shopping, food prep, developing and supervising students, supervising guest chefs, and daily ARC bar supervision to maintain a consistent operation. Ensure risk management and food handling procedures comply with university guidelines.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $56,200.00 - $76,500.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $56,200.00 - $96,800.00 (Annual Salary).
 
Required:
  • A Culinary Arts degree from an accredited institution or 3 years of equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in culinary arts or related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • California food handlers’ card
  • Broad knowledge in culinary programming and education. 
  • Leadership skills to interpret current trends and directions and be able to apply those appropriately to the University. 
  • Demonstrates advanced client service leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills to resolve non-standard issues. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. 
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate key program information for inclusion in web-based and other marketing materials. 
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of computer applications relevant to job duties. 
  • Advanced knowledge of campus policies and procedures. 
  • Advanced knowledge of program activity and best practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve programs and processes as needed. 
  • Skills to deliver highly effective service orientation, program management, and make sound judgments decisions; able to use critical thinking skills to develop original and creative problem-solving ideas in a varied and challenging environment. 
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization and with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds 
  • Ability to initiate and contribute to collaborative programming across related campus departments. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to be detail oriented.
     

Preferred:

 

  • Red Cross CPR preferred. 
  • Standard First Aid Training Certification preferred.

 
Special Conditions Required:
 
  • Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
