Department Summary
Administrative Information Support Services (AITS) is uniquely positioned to support the University’s mission by providing the primary university-wide, shared resources of computing hardware, software, data and voice communications, and technology professional personnel on campus. AITS is called upon to provide computing and electronic communications resources when it can do so more effectively or more efficiently than separate units.
Position Overview
Provide user, server, desktop, technology, and software support to the Union department primarily. This position will also provide support to all the AITS departments as needed during emergencies. This position will have support responsibility for user/desktop (PC/Mac)/printer/digital signage systems/HVAC and other technologies in the Union department. This position will be involved in the support and maintenance of all the servers for the Union. This position will work with the Cross Functional IT Support Supervisor (CFITSS) to provide technology support to the Union department and other areas as needed or required. This position will work closely with all the CFITSS in learning the Windows server and security environment and being a part of the server build/support/maintenance process and providing backup support as needed. This position may be required to work flexible schedules as related to Union events and other requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
• Knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment.
• Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
• Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in Business Computer Information Systems or MIS or Computer Science or Computer Engineering. * Previous experience and/or knowledge of server, network management, experience managing/configuring access control, and environmental control systems, experience with Accruent’s EMS system.

Job Duties


o
Maintains inventory of all computers, printers, devices and miscellaneous IT items in the Union and departments under the Union.
o
Provides desktop computer and user support to the Union department primarily and to other locations in AITS during emergency periods.
o
Desktop/laptop setups for all users in the Union department. Uses MDT or other imaging tools to deploy individual desktops and other devices as needed and does so while keeping to all the security guidelines and ensure that all new workstations are secure and have all the latest patches.
o
Printer support and troubleshooting for the Union department.
o
Monitor the servers in the Union and keep the CFITSS appraised of anomalies. Resolve situations on the servers as need arises by working with the Union department, the CFITSS, and the Director of IT Support.
o
Support the Union servers, both physical and VM, and maintain security, patches and best practices on all of them. Will notify the Union Department in advance of any downtime that is planned and work with them on schedules.
o
Maintains Servers in the Union with updates and best security practices. Informs the CFITSS of schedules and any issues that arise.
o
Monitor all standalone Windows servers in the Division as needed and as required by the CFITSS during emergency time periods. Address anomalies and issues with the servers. Work with the AITS IT managers to resolve the issues. Keep the CFITSS and Director of IT Support apprised of the issues and resolutions.
o
Work closely with the Union Technical Media department to address any technical needs or installations they might need for events or general day-to-day operations.
o
Maintains a professional demeanor at all times in the workplace. Provides courteous and professional service in all user and desktop support events.
o
Provide PCI/Security/Technical support to all Union retail initiatives.
o
Assist the CFITSS and Director of IT Support as needed in researching, learning, and applying new software applications when needed in the office.
o
Will provide support for file, print, database, web, utility and other application servers. Monitors these servers if emergency situations arise.
o
Monitor and maintain current endpoint security offering provided by UNT System Information Security for the Union department and address issues in a timely and efficient manner.
o
Support for the digital signage systems in the Union and Discovery Park as well as other areas where the Union may expand this need.
o
Provides support to other buildings and expansion efforts that involve the Union and AITS.
o
Availability to work off hours when needed. This would be before and after the M-F 8-5 as well as weekends as needed and requested by the Union and/or the CFITSS. Respond to environmental issues in the Union and other buildings where this position has resource management responsibilities. Respond to server/AC/environmental emergencies as required by the CFITSS. On-call as required by the CFITSS and Director of IT Support during weekends/holidays for Union resources and other locations as needed.
o
Performs special projects and duties as assigned by the CFITSS and Director of IT Support.
o
Be a contributing member of the desktop standards group for AITS. Serves on special work groups or committees as directed by the CFITSS and Director of IT Support and represent a champion role for the Union and AITS.
o
Assist the CFITSS with administering devices in Jamf, SCCM, and Intune.
o
Provision and manage users in Active Directory.
