Position Summary
The Program & Workshop Specialist will support the Center for Diversity and Inclusion’s Cross-Cultural Connections (CCxN) area. Reporting directly to the Director of CCxN the Specialist is instrumental in the development of programs and workshops around identity and culture from an intersectional lens. They will play a key role in the advocacy, development, and growth of diversity and inclusion programs, workshops, and support initiatives that prioritize social justice and identity development of students. They will work across student affairs, and the institution to establish collaborative partnerships. In addition to CCxN, key areas of the CDI are central to this work to include the Spectrum Office (LGBTQIA+ initiatives), the Office for Spiritual, Religious, and Ethical Life, Dialogue across Difference, and the Office of International Student Engagement. This posting is for multiple hires.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops & facilitates programs and workshops centered around identity and culture through a cross cultural lens.
  • Supervises student assistants for the Cross-Cultural Connections area to support with programs and workshops.
  • Develops communications, marketing and branding for the CCxN team with support from student assistants.
  • Regularly assess student learning outcomes and evaluate programs and workshops, develops reports and recommendations based on findings.
  • Serves on University-wide committees representing CCxN and the broader Center for Diversity and Inclusion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Some desk work utilizing a computer and phone.
  • Work hours some nights and weekends as needed for programming.
  • Event set up and break down at various venues around campus.
  • Hybrid work environment that may require in person meetings and virtual meetings.
  • Traditional desk set up for administrative tasks and various meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field (cultural/ethnic/gender studies, humanities, behavioral or social sciences, or field work and internships incorporating relevant coursework and/or Master's degree, preferably in a related field (i.e., higher education administration, college student personnel administration, student affairs, social work, social justice education, behavioral or social sciences, ethnic/gender studies, human resources, etc.) or a field incorporating relevant coursework.
  • Five years of professional experience working with students or communities from traditionally underrepresented or marginalized populations, preferably on a four-year college campus or in a higher education setting.
  • Three years of professional experience in educational program/content development for cultural/identity-based programs and workshop facilitation.
  • Three years of professional experience with outcomes assessment/evaluation.
  • Workshop facilitation.
  • Oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Program/event planning and execution.
  • Basic social media management.
  • Collaboration with campus partners at varying leadership levels.
  • Knowledge about cross cultural relationships, equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.
  • Creative problem solving.


    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Three years of experience with curriculum/content development and workshop facilitation with experience in developing content and/or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

    Salary Range
    $48,700.00 - $80,500.00 / Annually

    The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
