Crop Transformation Facility (CTF) Soybean/Tobacco Transformation Technician
Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology
Primary Position Function/Summary
This role will involve conducting soybean transformations as part of the Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efciency (RIPE) project, with the objective of consistently generating healthy plants for academic research. The position requires close collaboration within a small team of technicians, ensuring the timely fulfillment of service request deadlines.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plant transformation and regeneration of soybean
  • Media, buffer, bacterial stock preparation
  • Documentation of work in appropriate databases and regular updates of progress during in-person meetings
  • Labeling, stock organization and general lab maintenance

Additional Physical Demands
Laboratory-based work with non-hazardous materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Crop Science or closely related Life Science degree Experience: Experience with aseptic laboratory technique and sterile handling
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology
Experience: Experience with plant tissue culture, plant transformation, DNA isolation, PCR, genetic engineering
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Required: Knowledge of DNA isolation, PCR, aseptic laboratory technique
  • Preferred: Knowledge of plant transformation, genetic engineering

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The minimum salary for this position is $48,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
