Strategic Communication + Marketing

Columbus State University is seeking a Creative Services Specialist to support the work of its Office of Strategic Communication + Marketing. The professional in this role will contribute to marketing, storytelling, social media and branding efforts by providing videography, photography and graphic design services that inform and engage the university's various audiences - including prospective students and their families, current students, alumni, donors, and other stakeholders.

The Creative Services Specialist's efforts will produce multimedia assets that engage the university's audiences through various channels (e.g., websites, paid and organic social media, advertising, news-reporting and earned media, email marketing, internal communications and print collateral) by spotlighting and illustrating student achievement, faculty research, campus engagement and other noteworthy activities. Key responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: Planning, storyboarding, scripting, producing, directing and editing videos, photos and other digital and interactive media that support the office's projects and strategies.; Attending campus events and activities to record and photograph candid moments, background footage and archivable assets for use in the office's overall communication and marketing efforts.; Designing print and/or digital materials.; Ensuring all creative aligns with the university's brand guidelines, adheres to accessibility requirements, and maintains a consistent and compelling voice.; Organizing, tagging, archiving and sourcing content from existing photography, video and brand asset libraries.

Required Qualifications include: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, creative services, public relations, graphic design, film production or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university prior to the start date of the position (Seniors/upcoming graduates are welcome to apply).; Demonstrated understanding of communication, marketing and branding principles.; Demonstrated experience capturing and editing video, photos and audio; and the equipment (e.g., lighting, microphones, lenses, etc.) and software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Cloud suite, Canva, etc.) related to these functions.; Demonstrated experience in graphic design and integrating corporate/commercial branding standards into design work.; Demonstrated experience planning and storyboarding for multimedia projects.; Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.; Demonstrated experience managing multiple and simultaneous projects, maintaining attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and adhering to team/client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications include: At least two years of related professional or intensive internship experience, preferably in a higher education setting.; Experience curating a digital asset management (DAM) platform or similar library/archiving service.

The annualized salary for this position is $40,568 and includes full benefits. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Knowledge of video and photographic techniques; conventional video and photographic equipment and accessories; the uses and effects of various lighting and audio methods; lighting, composition, and camera/lens combination; editing software (including, but not limited to Premier Pro, Final Cut, Photoshop, and After Effects, among others); video collaboration, distribution, storage and archival software (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr).
