Position Description

Coordinates all logistics for the programming of the Psychedelics in Society and Culture initiative at the Mahindra Humanities Center and co-sponsored programming with the Center for the Study of World Religions at the Harvard Divinity School and the Project on Psychedelics Law and Regulation at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at the Harvard Law School, as well as with the UC Berkeley Center for the Science of Psychedelics and Center for Interdisciplinary Critical Inquiry. Programming includes grant-making, fellowships, seminars, public events, and conferences. Corresponds with guest speakers; arranges travel and lodging; books venues and audio-visual equipment; tracks spending; arranges catering, sets up and cleans up. Processes honoraria, invoices, and reimbursements. Assists Communications and Design Manager at the Mahindra Center in publicizing events. For co-sponsored programming, works with staffs of the collaborating Centers. Helps coordinate the grants and fellowships programs in Psychedelics in Society and Culture: organizes the application and award processes. Schedules and attends committee meetings; maintains careful records and handles confidential material. Occasional weekend and after hours expected. Assists as needed with the logistics of the full range of Mahindra Humanities Center events. Performs other related duties as required.


Basic Qualifications

Three years minimum experience required. Education may count toward experience.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

Two years related experience and/or Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Excellent organizational skills with particular ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple and conflicting interests. Proven project and/or program management skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion. Competency using a variety of computer software.


Additional Information

This is a part time (17.5 hours per week), three-year term position. Weekly schedule will be determined in conjunction with manager.

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.

The Mahindra Humanities Center provides a site for interdisciplinary exchanges among Harvard faculty, faculty from other area institutions, graduate students, undergraduates, and the public.  It sponsors panel discussions, lectures, readings, conferences, workshops, and seminars on a wide range of topics.  It also supports informal occasions for the exchange of ideas and the sharing of scholarly and artistic work.  The Mahindra Center seeks to foster collaborations between the humanities, social sciences, and sciences in the belief that the humanities make a unique contribution in establishing—through interpretation and conversation—communities of interest and climates of opinion.
