General:
The Coordinator of Community Standards at Roxbury Community College serves as the College Student Code of Conduct Administrator, overseeing the adjudication of potential violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students, this role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive educational community standards program. The Coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure a safe and inclusive campus environment while providing support and resources for students facing challenges.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary student Code of Conduct Administrator
- Coordinate and oversee the resolution of all disciplinary responses to allegations of violations of the Student Code of Conduct as documented in Incident Reports, or by Public Safety Officers, employees, or other referring parties Recruit, train, and advise the College Judicial Board
- Assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities as members of the College community
- Manage the creation and maintenance of all student disciplinary records through the use and administration of the Maxient system.
- Serve as a liaison to faculty, staff, and community members in response to student conduct matters
- Plays a vital role in providing crisis response and assistance to college employees working with students and assists students in resolving conflict
- Coordinate with Project Access to connect students to appropriate community resources including counseling, access to food resources, housing assistance, and other basic needs.
- Coordinate with the Office of Student Success to connect students to campus resources.
- Provides and maintains records and reports, as required
- Provides conduct workshops for faculty/staff as required
- May assist students facing stressors and other barriers that impede success
- Serves as part of the campus Behavioral Intervention team
- Responsible for building positive relationships with faculty and staff and providing proactive best practices for addressing student behavior
- Serve as the back-up to the Dean of Students in response to student emergencies
- Develop, assess and facilitate educational programs for students as required by Federal regulations and State law
- Provide training for faculty and staff on the student disciplinary process
- Provide educational programming for students, faculty, and staff on expected community standards in an effort to promote civility, accountability, and mutual respect
- Coordinate continual educational and preventative programs regarding alcohol and drug use and abuse
- Consult with faculty/staff about individual student situations
- Responsible for the review, revision, and dissemination of the Student Handbook, which includes the Student Code of Conduct policy
- Maintain awareness of new developments and review current literature in Student Behavior, Title IX, ADA, Wellness and Prevention Education, and Federal, State, and Local laws and policies affecting higher education
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Student Affairs, higher education, or closely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training that includes crisis management or behavior intervention; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Crisis management, student conduct, behavioral intervention, or conflict resolution/mediation experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, time management and sound judgment.
- Administrative and supervisory experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Community college experience.
- Conflict resolution skills, including active listening.
- Knowledge of higher education laws, including FERPA, Jeanne Clery Act, Higher Education Act, Title IX, Title V, and other pertinent federal, state, and local laws.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, MCCC position (37.5 hrs), with full benefits.
Compensation: Per the MCCC Grade 6 Professional Staff Salary Grid , salary is commensurate with Education and Experience in accordance with the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement.
